Before I took part in the Expedition through the Arctic, I had lived by a schedule. In the Arctic you lose sense of time. Having 24 hours of sunlight we could start our hiking at what we thought was 3 PM but it was actually 3 AM.
Our entire being was focused on one thing: survival.
That day or night (I can’t say for sure) I was on polar bear watch while the others were sleeping.

a polar bear. I was very surprised. Polar bears never come close to
people. The bear seemed to be friendly and curious. So I decided to give
it some food. But then I saw a pile of fish not far from it. Two funny
cubs were eating the food. They were fighting to be the first. I came
closer and started taking pictures of them. All of a sudden a mother-bear
appeared. It was frightened of flash of my camera. It thought the cubs
were in danger. It was going to protect them. The father-bear stopped the
cub’s mother. And the polar bear family went away.
Two months passed quickly. The expedition was over. I came back home. I
had managed to take some pictures of the polar cubs that night. Now I
often tell this story to my friends and show them the pictures.
