The Adventures of Little Snowy

Федосенков Тимофей. 11 лет. The Adventures of Little Snowy. LOW.

Snowy is a little polar bear cub. He lives in the northern Arctic with his family. Mummy bear, Daddy bear and Snowy can see ice and snow everywhere every day. They like swimming from ice floe to ice floe and digging holes in snow banks.
One day Snowy says, "I’m tired of this ice and snow. I’m going to live where I can see something quite different."
"But your home is here! Look!
The snowflakes are dancing in the air! They are so beautiful! Listen to the snow! It’s humming a very funny song, "scoosh-scoosh, scoosh-scoosh", his mother tells him.
"Nothing can stop me", answers Snowy. "I’m packing my things and ...

I’m leaving. I’m tired of the snow everywhere. I want to see the world. I want to see different lands and make friends with different animals. So bye , mummy!” Then Snowy quickly runs away through the snow hills. Mummy bear cries, “Come back as soon as possible Snowy! I’ll wait for you!” His mother can’t see him any more. Six months have passed since then. Mummy wants to see her son again. She is worrying about him. She is waiting for him to come back home. Suddenly one day she sees her son walking towards her. In a few minutes she hugs her son and kisses him. They are happy. Then Mummy bear asks Snowy to tell her where he has been all this time. And Snowy begins to tell her about his travel. He says, “When I left home six months ago some interesting things happened to me”. This is a story that Snowy told his mother. He walked through the snowfield to the Arctic seashore. There he met his friends, the sea lions. They helped him a lot. They began to roar very loudly. The deer, their good friend, heard this roar and ran up to the seashore. Snowy got on the deer’s back and they rode to the Russian polar station. There were Russian polar explorers in the northern Arctic. They worked and explored the Arctic nature. Regularly a helicopter delivered them food, gears and equipment. The helicopter was near the station and it was going to fly that day. Snowy thought that it was a good transport to start his journey. He secretly got on board the helicopter and soon the helicopter took off. The bear cub looked out of the window and he was afraid at first. But when he kept looking more and more, he was very excited. He thought that he was flying like a bird. The helicopter landed in Siberia. It was summer there. The weather was sunny and warm. Snowy ran out of the helicopter. He was very hot. For the first time Snowy saw giant trees and houses where people lived. There was a lot of green grass, beautiful flowers, unknown things and creatures such as butterflies, caterpillars, spiders, dragon-flies, mice, hares, foxes. There were a lot of different colours. It was very pleasant to walk in the wild forest. He saw a rainbow in the sky that looked rather like northern lights. The forest was full of various sounds. They were unlike the howl of the polar wind. When Snowy was walking in the forest he met a bear cub that looked like Snowy, but his fur was brown. Snowy was very surprised. This bear was quite friendly. His name was Choco. Snowy got on well with him. Choco invited Snowy to his home and introduced Snowy to his parents and friends. They had a good time together. All summer they enjoyed playing lip-frog, hide-and-seek, running, fishing in the river, eating raspberries, blackberries and had fun . Autumn came after summer. Leaves on the trees became orange, yellow and red. The days became colder and shorter than in summer. The winds were stronger. They blew from the north. Leaves began falling down from the trees. In autumn all animals were busy to prepare for winter. They were collecting food for winter, making cozy and warm houses for themselves. Snowy felt lonely. Then winter came. Snowflakes were falling down from the sky exactly like in his native land. And Snowy remembered his mother and father. He missed them very much. And he wanted to return back home. One day polar explorers saw him and they were amazed. They decided to take him back to the Arctic. So the bear cub found himself at home again. Now Snowy knows that “East or West - home is the best”.
