East or West Home is Best
Павлова Анастасия Юрьевна. 10 лет. 4 класс. East or West Home is Best. LOW.
Snowy is a little polar bear cub. He lives in the northern Arctic with his family. Mummy bear, Daddy bear and Snowy can see ice and snow everywhere every day. They like swimming from ice floe to ice floe and digging holes in snow banks.
One day Snowy says, "I'm tired of this ice and snow. I'm going to live where I can see something quite different."
"But your home is here! Look! The snowflakes are dancing in the air! They are so beautiful! Listen to the snow! It's humming a very funny song, "scoosh-scoosh, scoosh-scoosh", his mother tells him.
"Nothing can stop me", answers Snowy. "I'm packing my things and ...
leaving my house.
I’m going to find the place where there is no snow where the sun shines and it is warm all the year round.”
Snowy left his family and went away. He went far away and he understood that he got lost. He was fright-ened. Suddenly he heard the voice. “What’s wrong?” - it was a fairy-bird. “Have you got lost? What can I do for you?”
“I want to get to the place where it is warm”, - answered the bear cub. “Oh, I’ll help you. May your dream come true”, – promised the fairy bird.
When Snowy opened his eyes he was in a fairy tale forest. It was too lovely for words…
The birds were singing, there were a lot of wonderful flowers, and different animals.
Snowy made a lot of friends, saw a lot of interesting things, tasted unknown fruit.
But once he felt lonely. He told his new friends monkeys, parrots, elephants about his home place: “In Arctic our life is full of original and unique things: polar shining, “white nights”, permafrost and so on. Everything looks so beautiful in its white attire… Of course travelling is a thrilling thing… but I miss my parents…”
He began to cry and sang a strange song “scoosh- scoosh, scoosh- scoosh”.
His new friends didn’t know what to do and said: “We’ll dance for you! We’ll play with you! We’ll sing for you!” But Snowy was sad. At that very moment the monkey said: ”The fairy bird can help us! Let’s ask her to help us!”
The fairy bird agreed and the little polar bear cub was in the Arctic again. He was very glad and happy: “My home is here! I love everything here! Mother dear, look! The snow is falling. It’s wonderful!”
Snowy even wrote a poem.
“In Arctic boys and girls
Often play snow balls.
It’s fun to slide down hill
In any weather if you will.”
Now Snow knows “East or West Home is Best”.
